Scots Flat

Scots Flat is part of the pastoral care of the Scots-Memorial Uniting Church.  It was established in 1988 as a service to families who live outside Hobart but who are required to spend some time here due to hospitalisation.

The Flat is a modern, sunny, self-contained unit.  It is ideal for patients and/or relatives of patients in any Hobart hospital who need short to medium term accommodation.

The unit is located at the rear of Scots Church at 29 Bathurst Street, Hobart.  It is just a block away from the Royal Hobart Hospital and handy to the centre of the city.  Public transport and other facilities are close by.

What is supplied:

Accommodation comprises two bedrooms —  (1 double bed and 2 single beds).

The unit is ideal for a family with young children or a patient accompanied by family/friends.  Visitation is made easy.   Access to the flat is via a flight of 15 fairly steep steps.

Linen:

All bed linen, quilts, towels etc are provided.

Laundry:

Washing machine and spin drier.  A clothes line is also provided.

Living Area:

A fully equipped kitchen with limited provisions. Guests are asked, within reason, to replace food consumed.

A television set and telephone are in the dining/lounge room.

The phone is not available for making outward  STD calls, but is set up for receiving messages when incoming calls aren’t answered.  Dial 101 to check for any messages.

Rates:

$45 per night for accompanying parents/family,  regardless of the number of people staying.

Financial assistance may be available for low income persons through the provisions of the Patient Transport Assistance Scheme.  Patients need to make contact with their social worker prior to coming to Hobart, to discuss possible financial help.

Hardship cases will be given every consideration.

Parking:

Space for ONE car is provided within the church grounds.  Lot no.56.
