Mission Club was established in 1915 in the Davey Street Congregational Church.
The Club then moved to Memorial Church on the corner of Melville and Elizabeth Streets. When Memorial and Scots joined into one congregation, Mission Club moved to Scots Church.
Mission Club continues by happily providing clothing and other items known to be of need and to raise funds to support mission by way of overseas and local charities chosen after prayerful consideration.
Some of these are supporting a hospital in Africa, Times Ten World Food Program, Medecins Sans Frontieres as a Field Partner, Nungalinya College in Northern Territory, sponsoring a child and contributing to several charities in Hobart in a variety of ways.
For most of Mission Club’s life, support has been given to the Fellowship of the Least Coin and to the John Flynn Op Shop in Alice Springs where boxes of handmade clothing and other assorted, requested items are sent each year.
Mission Club is a happy, fun loving group and meets on the first Wednesday of each month from 10am to 12 noon – February to November.
